The first concept of the revived Yugo brand, under which the Zastava plant north of Belgrade produced cars until 2008, debuted at the Munich Car Design Event. A fully functional prototype of the new model is planned to be presented in Belgrade in 2027, Carscoops reported on May 7.

The concept model is a three-door affordable B-segment hatchback for the European market. Darko Marcheta, a Serb, is responsible for its design. The project is led by Alexander Belich, an engineer and economist from Germany, who obtained the rights to the Yugo brand and attracted personal investments.

Technical details of the promising model have not yet been announced. The authors of the project stated that the model will be equipped with traditional internal combustion engines in combination with a manual transmission or an automatic transmission, and electrified versions may appear in the future. It is planned to show a sports version of the concept in September.

The original Yugo cars were produced from 1980 to 2008. In total, about 794,000 vehicles were produced. They were sold in Europe and shipped to a number of other markets, including the United States.

The day before, the German Brabus tuning studio presented a project based on the current Mercedes-AMG G 63 SUV. The all-terrain vehicle was named the Brabus XL 800 and is positioned as an off-road supercar.
