Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze was elected chairman of the ruling party

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has been elected chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party. This was reported by the Georgia Today newspaper on May 7.
"Irakli Kobakhidze was elected chairman of the Georgian Dream Party," the article says.
The decision was made by the party members unanimously at the congress. Kobakhidze took the post of party chairman for the second time.
On April 25, the ex-chairman of the Georgian Dream party, Irakli Garibashvili, announced that he was leaving his post and retiring from politics. He stressed that he had fulfilled his mission as chairman of the party, while ruling out joining the opposition.
