It is absolutely unacceptable in the world to distort the historical truth about the Great Patriotic War and the significance of Victory. This was announced on May 7 by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a military parade in Astana dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory and Defender of the Fatherland Day.

Tokayev stressed that at present it is very important to convey to the citizens of Kazakhstan the whole truth about the war. Especially when the "hate bacilli" have penetrated politics.

"Without truth, it is impossible to know the value of peace. Distortion of the historical truth about the war and the significance of the Great Victory is unacceptable," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

He added that now, in an unstable era, the key task for Kazakhstan is to protect national interests.

On April 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that falsification of history leads to devastating consequences, therefore, it is necessary to firmly defend the truth about victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Russian leader stressed the importance of countering those who try to justify Nazi crimes.
