- Izvestia News Center presented an interactive special project "Two Worlds. One War" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Izvestia will tell the story of the great confrontation in a new interactive format.
Special project "Two worlds. One War" offers a look at the events of 1936-1945 through the prism of a parallel narrative about the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. Users will be able to understand the causes of the tragedy and see the consequences of the ideologies that determined the course of world history.
The Izvestia interactive project has been implemented in a unique new format. It was created using archival photos and videos from the pre-war and war years, as well as modern artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. For the first time, the authors used interactive mechanics that allow them to switch between two parallel narrative lines at any time - about the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. And by clicking on the interactive dots, all users will see information about important events and phenomena in text format.
The landing page has a "curtain" so that users can navigate between the two stories and visually trace how the two countries developed on the way to war, and what factors led to its tragic results. You can study the confrontation of the “two worlds” in order or by selecting a period on the timeline at the bottom of the screen.
"This year, Izvestia has released a number of interactive projects dedicated to the Great Victory. Each of them tells her story in their own way. "Two worlds. One War" is another perspective on the history of the Second World War. In this project, we wanted to show the two paths that the peoples of the USSR and Germany went through from the mid-30s to May 9, 1945, and invite our audience to reflect on why it became possible that millions of some people then went to kill millions of other people. And, of course, to see what it led to," said the authors of the special project.
