After a fire at a processing plant in the Yakut city of Neryungri, a criminal case was opened on violation of industrial safety requirements. This was announced on May 7 by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Yakutia.
"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, which negligently caused serious harm to human health")," the agency's website says.
It is noted that four workers injured in the emergency were hospitalized in serious condition on a medical flight to Yakutsk. They received thermal burns to their heads, chests, limbs, and respiratory tract.
Investigators have appointed an expert examination to establish the circumstances of the incident. The fire at the Neryungrinskaya factory was localized on an area of 300 square meters, after which it was extinguished, the department said.
The fire at the processing plant in Neryungri became known earlier in the day. The press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reported four victims of the incident. The city Prosecutor's office organized a check on the fact of a fire in the factory's finished goods warehouse. The main directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in Yakutia reported that 58 specialists and 15 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
