The number of electric bus routes in Moscow has grown to 200

Since the beginning of the year, 22 new electric bus routes have been launched in Moscow, their total number has reached 200 since 2018. This was announced by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
"We continue to develop a network of eco-friendly urban land transport and maintain high-quality passenger service, as instructed by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Today, the capital is the European leader in the number of electric vehicles," Liksutov said.
Today, more than 2,350 electric buses operate over 20% of the routes in the capital. There are 12 Mosgortrans platforms in Moscow for their maintenance. Among them are three specialized innovation parks: Krasnaya Pakhra in the TiNAO (opened in 2022), Mitino in the northwest (2023) and Saltykovka in the east of the city (end of 2023).
Replacing one bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 60 tons per year, Mosgortrans emphasized. Thus, according to Mosekomonitoring, about 190 thousand tons of emissions were avoided from 2018 to 2024.
In 2023, Moscow signed the largest contract in Europe for the supply of 1,200 new electric buses. Since 2022, improved equipment has been supplied to the capital. The range of electric buses has increased from 40-50 km to 80-90 km. Starting in 2024, KAMAZ trucks and LiAZ trucks will be launched in an updated design.
According to forecasts, by 2035, almost the entire Mosgortrans fleet will switch to electric buses.
