Young Russian hockey players took all three first places at the World Selects Invitational tournament for children under 13 in Italy. Footage of the match on May 7 is published by Izvestia.

From April 28 to May 4, Dynamo, Avangard and the Golden Ring national team, made up of pupils from schools in Moscow and the Moscow region, played at the World Selects Invitational tournament in the Italian city of Bolzano. This is the first major competition for children's teams in the years of international suspensions, in which athletes from Russia took part.

It is reported that the young hockey players performed under the Russian flag, and the national anthem of the Russian Federation was played before the games.

At the tournament, Russian teams faced off against rivals from North America, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Latvia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Avangard and Dynamo passed the preliminary stage without defeats. The Hawks scored all five wins in regular time, and the blue and white twice delayed matches to overtime. The Golden Ring national team suffered its only defeat against the Swedish team, and with a difference of one goal (3:4).

Earlier, on April 6, Russian hockey player Alexander Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in regular NHL games, breaking the "eternal" record of Canadian hockey player Wayne Gretzky. On April 10, the hockey player called the record goal the most important moment of his life.
