The State Duma proposes to fix prices for socially important food for children. As Izvestia found out, Sergei Mironov, the leader of the Fair Russia - For Truth faction, and deputy Yana Lantratova made such a request to Tatyana Golikova, the Deputy Prime Minister of the government. According to the document that Izvestia has, they propose to adopt a program of state support for Russian baby food manufacturers and fix prices for socially important products for children.

In a letter to the Deputy Prime Minister, the deputies note that prices for baby food have increased by 45-67% over the past few years, which is 2-3 times more than inflation. At the same time, 80% of the market is occupied by foreign brands, and 40% of raw materials are imported from abroad. In addition, there is no serious liability for manufacturers for violations: if a company violates the rules and produces an unsafe product, it will be fined a maximum of 300 thousand rubles, including for foreign manufacturers.

"In order to solve these problems, it seems advisable to develop a program of state support for the production and sale of socially significant baby food products, which will set fixed prices for products under the Russian Quality brand," the appeal says.

It is also proposed to tighten liability for violations of established price parameters with an increase in the fine to 100% of the amount of products sold, rather than exceeding a fixed price.

At the same time, manufacturers who use at least 30% of domestic products will be able to rely on government subsidies.

One more suggestion: large retail chains with a market share of more than 20% should be required to include at least half of the baby food products of domestic production in the assortment.

"The availability and quality of baby food is the most important condition for raising a healthy generation. We are confident that today, in the context of the demographic crisis and significant price increases, the offers of Just Russia For Truth are not just in demand, but vital. We cannot rely on the market and macro—financial difficulties - we really need to help families with children here and now! We count on the government's support in this matter," Sergei Mironov explained.

Lantratova, in turn, noted that the protection of motherhood and childhood is a real responsibility of the state. In her opinion, children's health should not depend on prices or imports.

On February 6, Elizaveta Dautova, pediatrician at the SM Clinic for Children, announced that children under one year old should not be fed smoked, pickled and fried foods. According to her, the transition from breastfeeding to a common table, that is, complementary feeding, should begin, taking into account the individual characteristics of the child. If he shows interest in food, sits on his own, grabs food with his hands or removes food from the spoon, the child is ready to introduce new foods into his diet.
