- The media reported that Lithuania and Latvia had banned Vucic's flight to the Victory Day Parade in Russia

The authorities of Lithuania and Latvia have banned Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's plane from crossing their airspace, while the Serbian leader intends to visit Moscow to participate in events marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This was reported on May 6 by the Serbian newspaper Evening News.
"Following Lithuania, the Latvian authorities banned the flight of a Serbian plane to Moscow, in which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was supposed to be," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, the corresponding actions of Lithuania and Latvia are caused by "political sensitivity" to the purpose of the flight of the Serbian president.
On the same day, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that 29 leaders from invited countries would attend the parade in Moscow on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali announced on May 3 that Vucic would keep his promise and attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow.
The country's main Victory anniversary parade will traditionally take place on Red Square in Moscow. As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on April 30, the high-level representation of many countries at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow indicates that they share the importance of the May 9 holiday.
