Lawyer told about responsibility for selling salmonella-contaminated meat

The sale of meat contaminated with various bacteria in stores faces both administrative and criminal liability. This was told to Izvestia by Ilya Vasilchuk, a trial lawyer, commenting on the results of the Izvestia investigation, according to which E. coli and salmonella were found in the meat ordered and delivered from the Magnolia store.

"Depending on the consequences, the responsibility may be different. In accordance with Art. 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which caused by negligence mass disease or poisoning of people or threatened such consequences, provides for liability in the form of imprisonment for up to two years," - said Ilya Vasilchuk.

If a person dies as a result of these violations, the responsibility increases in the form of imprisonment up to five years. And in case of death of two or more persons, the responsibility increases to seven years.

Investigation of "Izvestia" showed: in the preparation for kebab brand "IndiLight", which was sold in the store "Magnolia", revealed bacteria group E. coli and salmonella. "Izvestia" purchased several samples from the stores and submitted them for examination to the testing reference laboratory of the National Center for the Safety of Fish and Agricultural Products (FGBU "NCBRSP").

E. coli was detected in two other samples of products, which the editorial staff sent to the laboratory. We are talking about chilled chicken tobacco in marinade brand "Troekurovo", which was purchased in the store "Verny", and semi-finished poultry meat from the store "Magnolia".
