Matvienko spoke about the role of Russia and China in preserving the historical truth

Russia and China will be able to play a decisive role in preserving the truth for posterity, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said in an interview with Izvestia.
"Russia and China will be able to play a decisive role in preserving the truth for posterity. In this regard, I would like to emphasize the highest historical significance of such a long and substantial visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Russia precisely in the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory and his participation in the solemn and memorial events," Valentina Matvienko told Izvestia.
For China, preserving the full truth about their struggle shoulder to shoulder with Soviet troops and allies against Japanese militarism and German fascism, about their great contribution to the global victory and about the terrible, multi-million sacrifices of the Chinese people is an absolute position from which they will not retreat under any circumstances, the Speaker of the Federation Council emphasized.
"I have no doubt that in the anniversary days of September, China will once again be able to demonstrate this worthily, on a large scale and at a high international level," Valentina Matvienko said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin from May 7 to 10. As part of the trip, he will take part in celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
