On May 7, the Ministry of Defense reported on the exploits of Russian servicemen in the area of the special military operation (SVO).

The ministry noted the actions of the commander of the artillery gun of the Guard, Foreman Yevgeny Varlamov. During the battle with the Ukrainian militants, who attempted to outflank the advancing units of the Russian Armed Forces in order to cut them off from the main forces, he ensured continuous firing. It was his gun that was tasked with thwarting the enemy's plan.

So, thanks to Varlamov's competent and quick actions, as well as the coordinated actions of the artillery crew, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost two armored vehicles and a large number of militants, which is why they decided to retreat.

In addition, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation pointed to the merits of private Vasily Ryabokonov, who, at an observation post, calculated and transmitted the coordinates to the control point of the locations of the main firepower, routes and time of the change of posts of Ukrainian militants in advanced defensive positions.

After clarifying the coordinates of the enemy's infantry, the calculation of a self-propelled artillery installation destroyed a group of Ukrainian militants with a well-aimed salvo. Thus, thanks to Ryabokonov's actions, an attempt by Ukrainian militants to rotate on the line of contact was stopped, the ministry stressed.
