- The Omani Foreign Ministry announced an agreement between the Houthis in Yemen and the United States on a cease-fire.

The Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in Yemen and the United States, through the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman, have agreed to cease fire and any attacks on each other. This was announced on May 6 by Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi.
"Following recent discussions and contacts conducted by the Sultanate of Oman with the United States and the relevant authorities in Sanaa, in the Republic of Yemen, with the aim of de-escalation, efforts have led to a ceasefire agreement between the two sides," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Oman's Foreign Minister noted that in the future, neither side will attack the other. This commitment includes prohibiting Ansar Allah attacks on American vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, ensuring the freedom and uninterrupted flow of international merchant shipping.
At a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on May 6, American Leader Donald Trump said that the United States would stop attacks on the Houthis in Yemen after they expressed their willingness to abandon military action. According to the head of state, the Houthis promised not to attack commercial and military vessels in the Red Sea anymore.
