The UNESCO Secretariat's biased attitude is reflected in its unwillingness to respond to the repression of Russian journalists. This was announced on May 6 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"The bias of the Secretariat is clearly manifested in the persistent refusal to respond to the total repression against Russian media in Western countries, their actual destruction in Ukraine," the website said in a statement quoting the words of a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In addition, Zakharova stressed that Director General Audrey Azoulay's condemnation of the murders of Russian journalists this year is not enough because such "reprisals" have been ignored for many years.

In addition, the statement noted the concealment of the deaths of doctors due to the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This approach, according to the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, contradicts the ideas of the organization.

Earlier, on March 27, Azule condemned the murder of Izvestia correspondent Alexander Fedorchak, the operator of the Zvezda TV channel Andrei Panov and the driver of the Zvezda film crew Alexander Sirkeli APU. In addition, she called for compliance with international humanitarian law, including UN Security Council Resolution 2222 on the protection of journalists, media workers and related personnel in conflict situations.
