On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, REN TV has prepared a surprise for the audience. On May 8, the TV channel airs the series "SMERSH 3", a continuation of the popular historical action film about the confrontation between the secret intelligence services of the USSR and Nazi Germany during the Great Patriotic War. About how they made a movie about the heroism of the Soviet people — in the material of Izvestia.

On the eve of Victory Day, Izvestia has prepared a special project "Two Worlds. One War", dedicated to the history of the confrontation between the USSR and Germany from the mid-30s to the mid-40s of the last century.

What is the third season of the TV series "SMERSH" about

The year is 1944. The war is nearing its end. But the backbone of Nazi Germany has not yet been broken. The German command is hatching plans that would allow Hitler's troops to defeat the Soviet army. In the center of the plot are two captains of the SMERSH counterintelligence ("Death to spies!") Konstantin Lavrov and Pavel Semenov. Risking their lives, they are ready to perform the most difficult and dangerous tasks of command in order to thwart the plans of the Germans behind the front line and in the Soviet rear. The fierce confrontation between the intelligence services of the USSR and nazi Germany is reaching its peak in the final phase of the war. The new season promises even more action scenes.

— Our film differs from others in that it is a historical action film, — says director Mikhail Kabanov. — The plot will develop dynamically. We need to film as much as possible about the Great Patriotic War. Because in any case, young people should also watch such movies. Since they grew up at a different speed, they are interested in a more energetic spectacle. Therefore, the plot in the picture should unfold dynamically.

Actor Vladislav Kotlyarsky, who played state security captain Pavel Semenov in the series, promises that everything will be in SMERSH 3: chases, shooting, adventures. The actor's great-grandfather was a military pilot, squadron commander. On the birthday of his daughter, Vladislav's grandmother, he flew away on a mission and never returned. He went missing. There is also a story about military pilots in SMERSH 3. Vladislav Kotlyarsky's character will have a love story in the sequel.

"It goes against a light background, but nevertheless humanizes my character in a good way," says Vladislav Kotlyarsky. — He is not a cog who fights against global evil, but also a human being. It's very valuable in any movie. Our movie is about people.

How "SMERSH 3" was filmed

Semenov's partner, Captain Konstantin Lavrov (Igor Petrenko's character), joined counterintelligence knowing several foreign languages. He is a well-educated, unemotional, reserved person. Lavrov feels at home in the service. The officer is physically strong, so the actor had to demonstrate his training — to run with full ammunition, evade the chase, and fight the enemy hand-to-hand.

Sometimes it seems that it has become difficult, but you remember the guys who are in their zone, how they withstand all the hardships, and immediately realize that our loads are not comparable with theirs, — says Igor Petrenko. — Immediately relieves all fatigue. I took the machine gun, ran — and don't buzz, as they say. We wanted the guys who are currently at the forefront of the attack to watch SMERSH, get a little distracted, have fun, and maybe even be inspired by something.

The success of Operation Bagration also depends on the actions of the counterintelligence agents in the story. Lavrov and Semenov have only a few hours to prevent the actions of the sabotage group and prevent them from disrupting the offensive.

— A map of the USSR was made especially for the filming of the film. The props specialists pasted the paper base on gauze, as they did during the war. The stages of the strategic offensive Belarusian operation, better known by the code name "Bagration", were marked with arrows and dotted lines in red pencil. It took place in the summer of 1944 and ended successfully," Igor Petrenko said.

Artists and decorators recreated the era in the frame in great detail. Rare equipment was filmed in the series. For example, GAZ-M1. This is the first car built specifically for counterintelligence. He was affectionately called "emka" by the people. It has a powerful engine that allows it to compete with foreign cars used by foreign diplomats. Part of the project was filmed on an old train. Authentic decorations, old barracks and wooden houses were sought in the province. On the territory of the Gorki Leninskie Museum-Reserve, the reconnaissance women's battle with the Nazis was filmed. Anastasia Mikulchina embodied the commander of the partisan detachment Yanka on the screen. In the war, the heroine lost her husband and son, so she forgot that she was a woman, took up arms and went to defend her Homeland.

"That's the paradox of a female commander,— the actress smiles. — War does not choose gender. Like a natural disaster, it captures everyone indiscriminately: men, women, the elderly, and children. It's bad for everyone in the war. Unfortunately, sometimes such tragic events force a person to make the right choice and rethink their actions.

The enemy is smart, cunning, and strong. Yuri Anpilogov plays Abwehr Colonel Otto Berger in SMERSH 3.

— My character is the grey cardinal of this story, — said Yuri Anpilogov. — He's playing a chess game like a grandmaster. The two previous seasons of SMERSH were a huge audience success. Therefore, we are trying to repeat and consolidate it.

The role of the former commandant of Novorossiysk, Henry Miller, was played by actor Sergei Komarov. Having failed to fulfill the task set by the leadership, and having lost his colonel's position, his hero wants to rehabilitate himself and regain his position in the Reich.

"Miller is obsessed with this passion,— says Sergey Komarov. — He goes through all the trials, being wounded. But he tries to fulfill the task set for himself. And the Fascist Reich uses it for its own purposes. He also has a primary goal — to find and punish Lavrov.

"SMERSH 3" consists of two short stories — "Object 196" (five episodes) and "Secret Fighter" (four episodes). Each is based on real events of the Great Patriotic War. The first is devoted to the enemy's attempts to behead the Soviet command. Marshal Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov himself is under threat. In the second, the heroes face a new difficult task — to capture an experimental Messerschmitt Me.262 jet fighter stationed at a temporary enemy airfield in Belarus. The creators of the series admit that they have enough stories for the fourth season. And REN TV viewers can watch the third one on May 8 starting at 2:30 p.m.
