The Southern District Military Court sentenced a resident of the Kherson region to 5.5 years in prison for publicly justifying terrorism. This was announced on May 6 by the press service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia for the region.
"The Southern District Military Court has handed down a verdict in a criminal case initiated based on the materials of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region against a Russian citizen, a resident of the region, born in 1997, who was involved in publicly justifying terrorist activities (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of Russia)," the statement said.
It is clarified that the person involved in the Telegram messenger posted comments that justified the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall shopping center in March 2024.
The court sentenced the man to 5.5 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony and deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of websites for a period of 2 years. The verdict has already entered into force.
Earlier, on April 29, a man was detained in St. Petersburg for publicly justifying terrorism. In Telegram, the person involved published comments supporting the activities of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), a terrorist organization banned in Russia.
