The upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, who will visit Moscow during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), will have a broad agenda of events. As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reported on May 6, the leaders of the two countries are preparing to sign a solid package of documents.

The diplomat called the visit of the Chinese president one of the central events of Russian-Chinese relations this year. Moscow and Beijing share common positions in defending the results of the Second World War, on which the entire "post-war world order" is based.

"It is a sacred duty for our countries, which bore the brunt of the fight against German Nazism and Japanese militarism," she said at a briefing.

The Russian Foreign Ministry is convinced that the results of the talks between Putin and Xi Jinping will give a powerful impetus to the comprehensive development of relations between the two countries, as well as their "comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction."

"As part of the summit talks, the broadest agenda of bilateral and international issues is expected to be discussed, and a solid package of documents is being prepared that relate to cooperation in various areas," Zakharova said.

Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Russia at Putin's invitation from May 7 to May 10. As part of the trip, he will take part in celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. He will also talk with the Russian leader about the development of Sino-Russian relations, international and regional issues.

On May 4, the Chinese Foreign Ministry noted that the consensus reached by the Russian president and the Chinese president would contribute to deepening mutual trust between the two countries and cooperation in various fields. The two countries will continue to strengthen close cooperation within the framework of the United Nations, the SCO, and BRICS, working together to promote an equitable, orderly multipolar world.
