The driver who killed two motorcyclists was arrested for two months


The Oktyabrsky District Court of Lipetsk has chosen a preventive measure for a 21-year-old motorist who crashed into a Racer motorcycle on the night of May 5. A 21-year-old motorcyclist and his 20-year-old passenger were killed in the accident, and the driver of the car fled the scene.
According to GOROD48, the court decided to detain the driver for the duration of the investigation — until July 5. At the same time, the defense insisted on house arrest, arguing its position on the state of health of the accused's grandmother.
The motorist himself apologized to the relatives of the deceased young people and asked them to choose a measure of restraint unrelated to the arrest. In this way, he would be able to earn money and "do something to help the families" of the victims of the accident.
The publication also clarifies that during the court session, the lawyer of the motorist stated that his client did not run away from the scene of the accident, but moved away from him by 200 meters.
The accident occurred on the night of May 5 at 00:30 on Katukova Street. The 21-year-old driver of the VAZ-2114 crashed into a Racer motorcycle driven by a 21-year-old young man, after which he disappeared. The motorcyclist and his 20-year-old passenger died on the spot.
The driver of the car was detained after 40 minutes, he was intoxicated. A medical examination conducted at 2:20 a.m. in the hospital confirmed the detainee's condition.
A criminal case has been opened against the motorist under paragraphs "a, b" of Part 6 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules, which negligently resulted in the death of two persons, committed by a person in a state of intoxication, associated with leaving the place of its commission."
