By the end of April, 102.1 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 25.5% less than in the same month last year. This is stated in the message of the analytical agency Autostat, which was received by Izvestia on May 7.

Lada retains its leadership in the brand rating, accounting for almost 28% of the market in mid-spring, which in quantitative terms amounts to 28.5 thousand copies sold.

Haval became the best among foreign brands again, with cars selling 12.9 thousand copies in April. Chery is on the third line (10.9 thousand units), followed by Geely (6.7 thousand units) and Changan (4.6 thousand units). Belarusian Belgee became the sixth (3.9 thousand units). The top ten was completed by Jetour (3.2 thousand units), Exeed (2.9 thousand units) and Omoda (2.6 thousand units), as well as St. Petersburg Solaris (2.3 thousand units).

Seven of the ten brands represented showed negative dynamics in April, experts noted. It is strongest among Omoda, Changan and Geely, whose sales volume has fallen by more than 40%. Three brands were in the black — Jetour (+1.1%), Belgee (+29.9%) and Solaris (2.3 times growth).

In just four months of 2025, 349 thousand new passenger cars were sold, which is 25.4% less than in January–April 2024. Sales growth was recorded at Jetour (+12.2%), Belgee (+39.7%) and Solaris (5.4 times). At the same time, Geely and Exeed's sales have collapsed by more than half, analysts said.

On May 5, it was reported that in the first quarter of 2025, 164.9 thousand SUV class vehicles (crossovers and SUVs) were sold in Russia, which is 30.6% less year-on-year. Despite the decline in sales, their share in the structure of the country's car market increased and reached 68.2%.

Prior to that, on April 22, the Ministry of Industry and Trade informed Izvestia that in the first quarter of 2025, over 36 thousand cars were sold under demand incentive programs (preferential car loans and preferential leasing). The ministry clarified that more than 25.3 thousand cars were sold under the preferential car loan program, and more than 10.7 thousand cars were sold under the preferential leasing program.
