Polish carriers are planning to start blocking the road leading to the checkpoint in the Polish village of Dorohuska on the border with Ukraine on May 12. This was announced on May 6 by one of the organizers of the action, Rafal Mekler.

He said that the reason for the protest was the actions of Ukrainian carriers, which are pushing Polish companies out of the European market.

"After numerous meetings with officials of the European Union (EU), who were given the authority to make decisions regarding transport in the Ukrainian direction, my colleagues and I decided to take the situation into our own hands," Mekler said on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to him, the current recession makes it especially important to protect the Polish economy and jobs.

The organizers also hope that the issue can be resolved in court. The March of Sovereignty Association provides legal support to the protesters.

Romanian presidential candidate Victor Ponta proposed on April 27 to stop importing agricultural and food products from Ukraine. Ponta said that in the first three months of 2025, Romania recorded the largest budget deficit in the country's history — about €9 billion. At the same time, pensions, salaries and benefits have been frozen, and taxes and duties have been increased.
