The expert gave advice on how to organize a safe trip

It is worth making sure that the long-awaited trip goes without incidents and unpleasant situations in advance. Valentin Lyakutin, Director of Information Security at the Tutu travel service, told Izvestia on May 7 what to pay close attention to during the travel planning stage.
According to him, at the stage of booking tickets, tours and hotels, it is worth carefully studying reviews of housing, tenants and sellers and using only well-known, trusted aggregators. You should install applications from trusted companies by downloading them exclusively from official stores.
"Fraudulent schemes with fake booking objects are very common now. The attackers charge you in advance for the selected hotel room, and upon arrival it turns out that there is no housing there at all," Lyakutin warned.
Visa processing is also sometimes difficult. Scammers have learned how to create fake websites to collect money and personal data of users. The expert recommended carefully checking the reputation of agencies and intermediaries that deal with visa processing, as well as reading reviews about them.
At the same time, before the trip itself, it is also important to perform a few simple actions with your gadgets that will help protect yourself and your trip.
"I recommend setting up a complex password on your smartphone and, if possible, a biometrics scan when unlocking the screen. If the phone gets lost or stolen, it will be difficult to use it," Lyakutin said.
You should make backup copies of your data before traveling. This precaution will protect you from losing valuable information, such as your favorite family photos. In addition, it is better to update the operating system and all applications in the smartphone in order to minimize security risks, as well as not accidentally waste Internet traffic on a trip, the expert emphasized.
"Don't forget to set up the "find device" function on your smartphone. If you lose your phone, it will help you find it faster, and also make it possible to remotely erase important information on the device, if necessary," he advised.
According to him, it is worth remaining vigilant, because sometimes fraudsters, when stealing phones, send fake links to legitimate owners in order to lure data from iCloud, Google or Yandex accounts, as well as other services.
"If you fall for their bait, they will be able to unlock the phone and gain access to all data and applications," Lyakutin warned.
Earlier, on February 23, OneTwoTrip told Izvestia about popular spring destinations. According to their information, Russians are more likely to choose Sochi, Lake Ladoga and Dagestan for recreation. Experts singled out Egypt, Japan and Turkey among the foreign destinations.
