Zakharova accused Zelensky of bullying veterans

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky mocks veterans who intend to take part in events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This was stated on May 6 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing.

"Having violated the memory of his own grandfather, a knight of two orders of the Red Star, Semyon Ivanovich Zelensky, who walked a heroic path during the Great Patriotic War, the head of the Kiev regime is now mocking veterans who lived to see the 80th anniversary of Victory and who are determined to take part in the celebrations on May 9," Zakharova said.

She noted that the head of the Kiev regime threatened the participants of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow and the guests of the capital, and then, realizing the consequences of his words, tried to shift responsibility for possible provocations to Russia. According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Kiev regularly recognizes responsibility for explosions, shelling of civilian infrastructure and premeditated killings.

On April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a truce in the days of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. It was specified that the Russian side, for its part, would ensure a cease-fire at 00:00 from 7 to 8 May to 00:00 from 10 to 11 May. Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that by declaring a truce during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, Russia is sending an important signal to other states.

On May 5, American leader Donald Trump praised the Russian president's decision to declare a three-day truce. He called it a significant step, given the initial conditions when starting work on resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
