Hot water is turned off every year in the summer so that there are no accidents, in order to reduce the risk of pipe bursts during the heating winter, an expert from the Popular Front project explained to Izvestia. Analytics" Pavel Sklyanchuk on May 6.

"By turning off the water, hydraulic tests are carried out in houses: under high pressure and where pipes break, an accident occurs, repair crews go there and fix leaks," he said.

According to him, if you increase the number of repair teams, you can reduce the time to turn off hot water. However, as a rule, accidents can be quite serious or there can be a large number of them, so the periods of hot water shutdown can stretch, the expert noted.

"In the future, naturally, when the wear of the networks decreases and their reliability increases, the hot water will be turned off less and less, and at some point the water will stop being turned off," Sklyanchuk added.

At the same time, he said that in cases where water is not given for longer than the permissible period, it is necessary to draw up a properly executed act. It is necessary to fix the absence of water in the faucet with the help of the management company.

"This is necessary in order to file a complaint with Rospotrebnadzor, the housing inspectorate. In order for them to figure out what the reason is, sometimes the fault is on the side of the utilities, that is, on the water utility or heat supply organizations, or the fault of the management company, which did not receive the certificates on time in order to resume the supply of water," Sklyanchuk said.

To survive the period without hot water, some people use their own baths in suburban areas or go to neighbors, acquaintances. In ordinary homes, an electric water heater is sometimes used — in this situation, one must be careful not to provoke a fire, the expert emphasized.

In mid-April, Alexey Yeresko, Deputy head of the Ministry of Construction, told Izvestia that in the process of updating utility networks, the duration of the summer shutdown of boilers is shortened. However, according to him, it is impractical to reduce the stoppage of hot water supply to apartments from the established ten days to seven.
