Tankers took part in the "Immortal Regiment" action in the special operation zone

Tankers of the 25th army of the Zapad group held an action "Immortal Regiment" in the special operation zone for the protection of Donbass, they installed photographs of military ancestors on the Breakthrough tank. On May 6, Izvestia was told about this by the Commander of the Breakthrough tank with the call sign Snake.
He stressed that this action takes on a special meaning in the combat zone, because the fighters themselves are well aware of how the soldiers of the Red Army felt.
"We continue their memory, we continue their work to bring a peaceful sky over their heads. Everyone understands that this is an extension of ourselves, this is our memory, our ancestors. At some point, we will become a story that will be remembered and honored," said the Snake.
The commander of a tank platoon with the call sign Pick-up also spoke about the need to honor the memory of ancestors. According to him, NATO countries are trying to rewrite history, and against this background, it is necessary to hold the Immortal Regiment campaign every year so that children and grandchildren remember who exactly liberated the world from Nazism and fascism. These soldiers continue to push back the enemy in the area of the Green Valley. They have already advanced two kilometers deep, gradually liberating the territory of the DPR from the Ukrainian nationalists.
On April 10, Elena Tsunayeva, co-chairman of the central headquarters of the United Movement, announced that the march of the Immortal Regiment on May 9 would be held in a mixed format, including offline. According to her, this year the action will take place in regions with a sufficient level of security.
In 2025, May 9 marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. In January 1945, the Soviet army launched an offensive against Berlin. As a result of the fighting, at 00:43 Moscow time on May 9, the commanders-in-chief signed the act of unconditional surrender of Germany, which served as the end of the war.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Izvestia launched a special project "80 days to Victory." It publishes articles from Izvestia during the war, the full list of which can be found in the electronic archive.
