A copy of the Victory Banner was stretched in Havana in honor of May 9th


A giant replica of the Victory Banner was unveiled in Havana in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Footage of the May 6 event is published by Izvestia.
The banner was stretched in the historical center of the Cuban capital on the square of the fortress of Castillo de la Punta. The flag was presented to the city by Russian traveler Yuri Volkov.
Representatives of the Russian community of Cuba, students of the school at the Russian Embassy and local residents took part in the action. They paid tribute to the memory of the fallen soldiers during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and expressed gratitude to the Soviet people.
The event was organized by the Russian House in Havana with the support of the Russian Embassy in Cuba and the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana.
Earlier, on May 4, participants of the Immortal Regiment action marched in the uniforms of Soviet soldiers in Cologne on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In addition, wartime songs were performed at the event and a car rally was held.
