The leader of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union party, Sarah Wagenknecht, called the coalition of the leader of the alliance of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) Friedrich Merz stillborn. The politician stated this on May 6.

"The biggest electoral fraudster in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany wanted to become chancellor, but now he hasn't even succeeded. Friedrich Merz simply cannot do this and must take responsibility for it," Wagenknecht wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to her, the Merz coalition is stillborn.

"It would be a good day for Germany if everything remained like this and Friedrich Merz did not become chancellor," Wagenknecht added.

On May 6, Merz, the leader of the alliance of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), did not get enough votes in the Bundestag elections to be elected Chancellor of Germany in the first round.

A total of 621 people voted, and one ballot was invalid. As a result of the calculation, it turned out that 310 members of parliament voted for Merz's candidacy, 307 voted against, three abstained.
