Senator Olga Epifanova warned that since 2023, Russia has been criminalized for collecting certain plants in the forest.

In conversation with aif.ru On Tuesday, May 6, she advised to find out which plants are under protection before going to the forest, since the collection of red Book plants is prohibited. In particular, this applies to ginseng, anemones, mountain flowers, sleep grass, matsutake mushrooms.

Epifanova recalled that every year the Red Book of Russia is updated with new plant species, and some disappear from there if the species has restored its habitat.

"There are almost 5,000 plant species in the Red Book of Russia. Of course, it is impossible to know all the Red Book plants. But there is a difference — a person picked a rare plant unknowingly or with intent to sell it," the parliamentarian emphasized.

The law provides for various penalties for the destruction of rare plants, writes NSN. This can be a warning, mandatory work, a fine, as well as imprisonment for those "who acted deliberately and caused significant damage to nature."

On May 5, Epifanova warned about administrative and criminal liability for the cultivation of certain types of mushrooms on household plots. For example, mushrooms containing psilocybin and psilocin should not be grown in dachas. Such mushrooms are, for example, panzolus, gymnopilus, conocybe, green or crested fiber and others.

May 3 website kp.ru He wrote that in February 2024, the government expanded the list of controlled plants containing narcotic or psychotropic substances. And now it includes tricolor ipomoea (convolvulus), which summer residents quite actively cultivated for decorative purposes.

At the same time, lawyer Alexander Khaminsky, in an interview with RT, warned that picking mushrooms could result in prison or a fine. For example, you can't grow plants that make drugs in your country. For example, cannabis (if it contains substances that cause intoxication), poppies, blue lotus, as well as cacti or mushrooms that provoke hallucinations. According to him, it is dangerous to collect mushrooms if they contain narcotic substances (for example, psilocybin).

At the end of April, doctor Andrey Tyazhelnikov, in an interview with the Moscow city news agency, told what diseases threaten summer residents while working in the garden. According to him, there is a risk of contracting tetanus, botulism, mycosis and other dangerous infections. In addition, according to him, in the garden you can get infected with worms through manure, which fertilizes the ground, intestinal infections through dirty hands, unboiled water and poorly washed vegetables and fruits. Tick bites can also cause various infections.
