The head of the Austrian Freedom Party called Merz the "number one anti-democrat"

Friedrich Merz, the leader of the alliance of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), is the "number one anti-democrat." This was announced on May 6 by the head of the Austrian Freedom Party, Herbert Kickl.
"A good day begins with good news. I also just learned that Friedrich Merz, the number one anti—democrat in Germany, failed the first round of voting for chancellor with bombs and grenades," Kickl said.
In his opinion, this event has a positive effect on both democracy and Germany.

During the Bundestag elections on May 6, Merz did not get enough votes to be elected Chancellor of Germany in the first round. A total of 621 people voted, and one ballot was invalid. As a result of the calculation, it turned out that 310 members of parliament voted for Merz's candidacy, 307 voted against, three abstained.
After that, the Bild newspaper reported that Merz decided to abandon the second round of the chancellor's election on May 6. This information was also confirmed by CDU Secretary General Carsten Linnemann.
