The radical Palestinian movement Hamas has said that the expansion of Israel's ground operation in the Gaza Strip is dangerous for Israeli hostages. This was reported by Al Jazeera on May 6.

"The approval by the Israeli occupiers of plans to expand their activities in the Gaza Strip is a direct decision to sacrifice Israeli prisoners," Hamas said in a statement.

Representatives of the movement said that Israel's actions confirm its readiness to commit new war crimes under the auspices of the United States against the population of the Gaza Strip. They also appealed to the Arab countries and the international community to stop the aggression by Israel.

On May 5, the Israeli Military and Political Cabinet approved plans to expand operations in the Gaza Strip, which include the possibility of occupying the Palestinian enclave. The plan includes the occupation of the Gaza Strip, the denial of access to humanitarian aid to Hamas, and military strikes on the movement's infrastructure and positions.

Earlier, on April 17, Hamas leader Khalil al-Haya declared his readiness for immediate negotiations with the Israeli side on a cease-fire and the release of hostages and Palestinian prisoners. At the same time, he called Tel Aviv's demands for the disarmament of radicals impossible.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, said on April 19 that his country would not stop the war in the Gaza Strip until it destroyed Hamas and returned all the hostages.
