Families of police officers killed in a shootout in Makhachkala will be paid 1 million rubles. This was announced on May 6 by the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov.

"I know that no words can assuage the grief of people who have lost loved ones, but I want them to understand that we are with them, we are grieving and we will do everything to support them in this difficult time," Melikov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Financial support will also be provided to the victims. Depending on the severity of their injuries, they will be able to receive up to 500 thousand rubles.

The head of the republic noted that it is necessary to continue the fight against those "who are trying to hinder the peaceful future of Dagestan."

The shooting in Makhachkala took place on May 5. Later, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan reported on the elimination of two attackers. As a result of the incident, seven people were injured, two policemen were also killed, and two more were injured. Investigators have opened a criminal case on the fact of an attempt on the life of law enforcement officers.
