The award list of the father of the president of Kazakhstan with the description of his feat is published

On May 6, the Russian Ministry of Defense published the award list for Guard Sergeant Kemel Tokayev, the father of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The document is posted on the Podvig Naroda portal.

"During the entire period of fighting from July 17 to August 1, 1943, he was constantly near the tanks, guarding them, he acted decisively and bravely. Under heavy artillery fire, he kept in touch with tanks and, under rifle and machine-gun fire, carried out orders from the command to investigate the condition of damaged tanks and crews and to find the passages of aphids. He destroyed up to 20 Nazis with his machine gun fire," Tokayev's actions are described in the award list for one of his medals "For Courage."

Also, during the attack in January 1945, he was the first to break into the enemy's location, killed five soldiers and took one prisoner. Despite being wounded in the leg, Tokayev was able to return to his positions, eliminating the captured enemy along the way. For this battle, the guard sergeant received the Order of the Patriotic War II degree.

Prior to the publication of this document, it was only known that Kemel Tokayev had been awarded the Medal for Bravery.
