Chinese car brands Lepas and iCar may appear in Russia

Chinese automobile brands Lepas and iCar are planned to be officially launched on the Russian market. This was stated by Nikolai Ivanov, director of the New Cars department at Rolf, RIA Novosti reported on May 6.

"If we are talking about brands that can be officially presented in Russia, then I would single out the Lepas brand, which was presented to us in Shanghai. And iCar is a representative of the Chery Group. Cars of this brand are planned to be officially delivered to Russia," Ivanov said after visiting the Shanghai Auto Show.

The Lepas and iCar brands are part of the Chery Group's portfolio. According to the Chinese Cars portal, a line of electric crossovers is sold under the name iCar, which are known in foreign markets under the more "hyped" brands Chery and Jaecoo. The Lepas car brand was announced last April. It is focused on export markets and is aimed at young buyers who want stylish and richly equipped cars.

The day before, it was reported that Chery plans to launch an all-wheel drive modification of the Tiggo 7L crossover on the Russian market. The start of sales is scheduled for the autumn of this year.

Also on May 5, it became known that GAC will begin selling the S7 crossover in Russia, which will be the first hybrid model in the brand's lineup in this market. Sales are expected to start in mid-summer 2025.
