The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have struck a memorial dedicated to the fallen heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in the Kherson region. This was announced on May 6 by the governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo.
"As a result of the attack, the monument was damaged. This is a manifestation of extreme cynicism and vandalism," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Baldo also added that as a result of the Ukrainian shelling, two forest fires with a total area of 0.3 hectares broke out in the Alyoshkinsky and Toletikhsky municipal districts. In addition, a private house in Topolevka was damaged.
The governor stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled such settlements as Alyoshki, Kakhovka, Velikaya Lepetikha, Gornostayevka, Dneprany, Cossack Camps, Malaya Lepetikha, Novaya Machka, Sagi, Staraya Zburyevka and Tavriysk.
On May 3, unknown persons committed an act of vandalism against a monument to Soviet soldiers of the Great Patriotic War in the city of Tavriysk, Kherson region. They broke the paving slabs, took down the tricolor, the Victory Banner and the flag of the United Russia party. The police are currently searching for the perpetrators.
