More than 1,000 people took part in the "Victory Waltz" action in Primorye
A concert in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in Primorsky Krai, attended by 1,148 people. Hundreds of couples also joined the "Victory Waltz" campaign.
"May the Victory Waltz remain in memory as a symbol of unity, fortitude and boundless gratitude. By uniting, we can not only preserve, but also strengthen the values for which our grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought! Happy Great Victory Day!" said FEFU Rector Boris Korobets in his address to the participants.
Alexander Kaidanovich, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy at FEFU, said that the "Victory Waltz" had grown to such a large scale thanks to the university students who suggested making this event. According to him, many universities of Primorye took part in it. In addition, at the concert, students carried a St. George ribbon with a record length of 80 m.
"We are proud that we were able to gather so many young people who paid tribute to the memory of the Great Victory with awe and respect," said Roman Kovbas, head of the Agency for Youth Affairs.
At the event, guests could immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the war years and tasted front-line porridge in field kitchens. The participants were also shown samples of weapons, uniforms and household items of soldiers of those years.
It is noted that FEFU students will take part in the Victory Day Parade on May 9 in Vladivostok.
