The White House has stopped providing grants to Harvard University

The administration of US President Donald Trump has informed Harvard University that the institution will no longer receive federal grants for research, as it refused to follow the recommendations for changing its policy. This was reported on May 5 by CBS News with reference to a letter from the head of the Ministry of Education of the country, Linda McMahon, to the president of the university, Alan Garber.
The minister stated that the university will not enjoy financial privileges from the state until its management follows the requirements of the presidential administration and demonstrates responsible university management. The US authorities are convinced that the oldest American university systematically violates federal laws.
According to McMahon, the educational institution ignores such problems as anti-Semitism and discrimination, refuses to follow "academic discipline" and demonstrates "violation of its legal duties."
"Given these and other disturbing allegations, we hereby inform you that Harvard University should no longer request grants, as they will not be provided," the head of the department warned.
On May 2, Trump also announced his intention to strip Harvard University of its tax-exempt status, noting that "Harvard deserves it." Prior to that, on April 29, it was reported that the Trump administration had launched an investigation into Harvard University and the Harvard Law Review scientific journal in connection with allegations of racism. An audit will be conducted with respect to the educational institution, which will concern internal documents, as well as the selection policy of personnel and authors of articles.
On April 24, Trump called Harvard University a "threat to democracy" and accused its leadership of "liberal disorder." The president's comment came after the Harvard leadership repeatedly ignored the demands of the White House administration on the educational institution.
The Wall Street Journal newspaper wrote on April 20 that the Trump administration intends to deprive Harvard of another $1 billion in funding due to its refusal to change the internal policy of the educational institution. The next day, on April 21, the university administration filed a lawsuit against the administration of the head of state.
