Trump met with Karelia transferred to the United States as part of the exchange


US President Donald Trump met with ballerina Ksenia Karelina, who was released as part of an interstate exchange with the Russian Federation. This was announced on May 5 by Special Assistant to the President Margot Martin.
"Trump met with Ksenia Karelina, an American ballerina released from a Russian prison," she wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Martin also posted video footage from Trump's meeting with Karelina.
On April 100, Russian Artur Petrov, who was detained in Cyprus in 2023 at the request of the United States, was exchanged in Abu Dhabi for Ksenia Karelina, a US citizen convicted of treason in Russia.
Karelina was pardoned by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. She was previously sentenced to 12 years in a general regime penal colony "for high treason in the form of providing financial assistance to a foreign state."
