Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in Primorsky Krai stopped the activities of a local resident involved in committing treason in the form of providing assistance to a representative of a foreign state directed against the security of the Russian Federation. This was reported on May 6 in the press service of the regional department.

According to the investigation, the man, on the instructions of a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, collected and transmitted to him information about the critical transport infrastructure of the region and law enforcement facilities. It is specified that the detainee was fully aware of the possibility of using this data by the addressee against the security of the Russian Federation.

The Investigative Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Primorsky Territory has opened a criminal case against Primorets under Article 275 ("High treason") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He was given a preventive measure in the form of detention. Operational search measures and investigative actions are continuing, the department said.

"Treason refers to particularly serious crimes and implies providing a foreign state with "sensitive" information and committing actions against the security of the state," said Igor Polyakov, Honorary lawyer of Primorsky Krai, Candidate of Law.

He clarified that defecting to the enemy's side can include a number of actions, for example, concluding a contract or agreement with the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) or other enemy units, expressing consent and desire to join it. This also includes any actions aimed at joining these paramilitary units (purchase of equipment, departure towards the border, crossing the border).

According to the lawyer, financial assistance is any transfer of money in any amount for the purpose of financing foreign organizations aimed at opposing the Russian Federation. And the provision of logistical assistance is the transfer to the enemy of any items, documents (for example, sending food, medical kits, plans or information that does not constitute a state secret) for the purposes of opposing the Russian Federation. Other assistance is everything that does not fit the above.

On May 5, employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region stopped the illegal activities of a local resident suspected of publicly justifying terrorism and actions against the security of the Russian Federation. The Investigative Department of the FSB opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities or public justification of terrorism").
