The North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) and the European Union have launched training programs for direct conflict with Russia. This was announced on May 6 by the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, in an article for Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The article notes that European states, under the influence of Great Britain and France, continue to talk about the need to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.

"To the accompaniment of this annoying hype, programs have been launched in NATO and the European Union aimed at preparing the collective West for a direct military conflict with Russia," the article says.

According to Shoigu, the North Atlantic Alliance's advance towards the Russian borders and the aggressive steps of Western countries can be justified by "Russophobic fabrications."

Shoigu said on April 25 that Western countries were provoking humanitarian crises and armed conflicts. He also pointed out that Western intelligence agencies are conducting informational and psychological sabotage aimed at destroying basic moral and cultural norms.
