- Wikipedia's fines in the Russian Federation exceeded 41 million rubles

The online encyclopedia Wikipedia continues to ignore legal demands of the Russian Federal Tax Service to remove illegal content. The site's fines for spreading fakes are growing - their sum for 2024 and the first quarter of 2025 has already amounted to 12.5 million rubles, and the total figure exceeded 41 million.
As reported in Roskomnadzor, after the start of the special military operation, the administration of Wikipedia represented by Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. takes an anti-Russian position, ignores the legitimate demands of the RKN to remove illegal content.
"As of today, 229 illegal materials remain unremoved. Of these, 133 contain fakes about the course of a special military operation. In addition, materials of extremist and terrorist orientation; information on the involvement of minors in the commission of illegal acts (rufing, zatseping); materials on the manufacture of explosives; suicidal, pro-drug and other prohibited content remain in access", - told "Izvestia" in the press service of the RKN.
At the same time, it got into a major scandal in the United States - it was attacked by Edward Martin, federal prosecutor of the District of Columbia, appointed by Donald Trump. He accused the resource of distorting information, manipulating facts and rewriting historical events and data about former and current politicians. Now Wikipedia may be stripped of its non-profit organization status, which exempts it from tax benefits, by mid-May, it must answer ten questions from the prosecutor.
