The possible withdrawal of the United States from the negotiation process to resolve the Ukrainian conflict will be bad news for the whole world. This statement was made on May 5 by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

As the MTI news agency clarified, Szijjarto believes that only US President Donald Trump has the opportunity to negotiate with Russia and Ukraine.

"It will be very bad news for the whole world if the United States refuses a diplomatic settlement, but so far this has not happened. I hope that they will continue to participate in this process," the Hungarian Foreign Minister said.

Szijjarto noted that "it would be very bad" if European countries could not count on the US president and his administration to resolve the issue of resolving the Ukrainian conflict over the next few weeks or months.

"But as far as I understand, they have definitely not said yet that they will completely abandon this," the minister added.

Szijjarto said on May 5 that Budapest and Bern are in favor of achieving peaceful negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine with the participation of the United States and Russia, and also believe that a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine can only be achieved through diplomacy.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled on April 30 that Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement that Russia is ready to negotiate on the Ukrainian conflict without preconditions is still relevant. However, no information has been received from Kiev on this matter.
