- The President of Laos will visit Russia and take part in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory

President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) Thonglong Sisulit will attend the celebrations on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow. This was announced on May 5 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK.
"Thonglong Sisulit, at the head of a high-level delegation of the DPRK, will pay a working visit to the Russian Federation from May 8-10, 2025, in order to further strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries and participate in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War," the republic's Foreign Ministry said in a communique.
It is specified that Sisulit will arrive in Moscow at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The country's main Victory anniversary parade will traditionally take place on Red Square in Moscow. It will be attended by a number of foreign leaders, including Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
As Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted, the high-level representation of many countries at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow indicates that they share the importance of the May 9 holiday. In his opinion, Russia has not just allies, but states that are close in spirit and ideology.
