GAC to bring hybrid competitor Lixiang L6 to Russia

GAC will start selling the S7 crossover in Russia, which will be the first hybrid model in the brand's lineup in this market. This was reported on May 5 by the Chinese Cars portal with reference to the company's press service. Sales are expected to start in mid-summer 2025.
In the Russian market, the GAC S7 crossover will compete with the Lixiang L6 gasoline electric. The length of the car is 4800 mm with a wheelbase of 2880 mm. It has a 1.5-liter turbo engine (160 hp; 220 Nm) combined with one or two electric motors. The front—wheel drive version develops a total of 392 hp, while the all-wheel drive version develops 501 hp.
Acceleration to "hundreds" for simple modifications is 7.9 seconds, for more powerful ones — 5.8 seconds. The initial versions received a 21.3 kWh battery, while the more advanced versions have increased their capacity to 36.3 kWh. With pure electricity, the crossover can travel from 115 to 205 km. When starting with a full tank and a fully charged battery, the range is 905-1150 km.
Currently, the GAC model range in Russia includes the GS3, GS4 and GS8 crossovers, the M8 minivan and the Empower sedan, which went on sale in March.
On April 17, Gak Motor Rus announced a recall of 16.9 thousand GS8 vehicles in Russia, which were sold between July 17, 2023 and March 24, 2025.
