On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, Izvestia released a reprint of the historical issue, an exact copy of the legendary newspaper dated May 9, 1945. More than 200,000 copies were donated to veteran and volunteer organizations in Russia, as well as to the country's military and historical museums.

In addition, participants of the Victory Day Parade in Moscow will receive a unique issue of Izvestia in 1945.

The reprint of the newspaper became part of the exhibition in the museum carriage of the Victory Train, at the historical and documentary exhibition of the State Historical Museum - "Without the Right to Oblivion" and at the Victory Museum. Izvestia also presented historical numbers to the winners of the All-Russian contest "The Best Primary Organization of Veterans", guests and participants of "Biblionoch-2025" at the Lenin Russian State Library.

"Today, you rarely see a printed newspaper in your hands: everyone is used to reading news in electronic format, from a smartphone screen. The reprint edition of the newspaper Izvestia dated May 9, 1945, mentally brings us back to that Victory Day — the happiest and most joyful day for all citizens of the Soviet Union and Europe liberated from Nazism. The materials of this historical issue are like a frank conversation with a witness of those great events: how the signing of the German surrender took place, how Moscow greeted the first night without war, and how the Soviet people saluted the victorious soldier.… Such projects allow us to make our history closer, clearer and more familiar," said Maria Lemigova, Head of the Department of Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing at the State Historical Museum.

"The Victory Museum expresses its gratitude to the Izvestia editorial board for providing copies of the May 9, 1945 issue of the newspaper. This day is also significant for the museum because, along with the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, the museum celebrates the 30th anniversary of its opening. As part of these events, it will be possible to get acquainted with the news of the Victory Day issue in the newly opened exposition of the Path to Victory Museum," said Elena Anokhina, head of the Library section of the Victory Museum.

According to Victoria Lotareva, head of the Moscow regional branch of the Victory Volunteers Movement, Victory Volunteers in Moscow are already congratulating veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Volunteers present the Heroes with a reprint of the newspaper from 1945, created by the Izvestia News Center team. This gesture causes sincere gratitude from the veterans, because the newspaper reminds of the Great Victory and the feat they accomplished. Our goal is to preserve historical memory, and it's nice to know that together with our partners we are strengthening our capabilities more and more every year!"

On the pages of the issue are the first official reports of the German surrender, orders from the Supreme Commander, congratulations to the Soviet people, and a photo from Berlin. This issue is a living document of the era, allowing you to feel that very Day of the Great Victory.

The text of the Act of Unconditional Surrender of Germany and the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR declaring May 9 Victory Day were published on the front page of Izvestia. Other pages contain materials related to this great day and how it was greeted in Moscow and other cities of the country and the world.
