The share of crossovers in the Russian car market has exceeded 68%

In the first quarter of 2025, 164.9 thousand SUV class vehicles (crossovers and SUVs) were sold in Russia, which is 30.6% less year-on-year. Despite the decline in sales, their share in the structure of the country's car market increased and reached 68.2%, according to Autostat Info on May 5.

The Haval Jolion became the best-selling SUV segment car in the first quarter with 11.9 thousand crossovers, 26% less than a year earlier. The second place, with a slight lag, is occupied by Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max, sales of which increased by 15% (to 11.1 thousand units). Lada Niva Travel is in the third position with a result of 8,700 units, which is 32% lower than last year's figure.

The top ten most popular crossovers and SUVs were completed by Lada Niva Legend, Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, Haval M6 and Geely Monjaro, as well as Omoda C5, Changan Uni-S and Haval F7.

B segment car sales decreased by 26% to 31.9 thousand units, segment share was 13%. The sales volume of B+ segment machines increased by 5.2% over the year (25.5 thousand units), which corresponds to a market share of 10.5%. Sales of minivans immediately increased by 326% to 7.1 thousand vehicles. Sales in segments C and D decreased by 56% (to 5.6 thousand units) and 32% (to 5.2 thousand units), respectively, the share of these segments was 2.3% and 2.1%.

Earlier on the day, it was reported that sales of new passenger cars in April 2025 in Russia amounted to 101.4 thousand units (cars under the age of three are taken into account). This is 25% less than in the same period last year, but 28% more than in March this year.
