The Czech authorities have handed over 500,000 units of large-caliber ammunition to Kiev as part of efforts to supply Ukraine with military supplies. This was announced on May 5 by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

"Half a million units of large-caliber ammunition were delivered to Ukraine. Half a million units of large—caliber ammunition is the current figure, and we expect to fulfill the goal that we set for this year in terms of the number of large—caliber ammunition [supplied to Ukraine]," Fiala said during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He stressed that the Czech Republic had contributed to the supply of more than 2,000 units of heavy equipment to Ukraine.

"The Czech Ammunition Initiative, which plays an important role in Ukraine's defense, is also successfully developing. We are successfully fulfilling our plans and will continue in the same spirit," Fiala said.

On April 16, the representative of the Czech Government for the reconstruction of Ukraine, Tomas Kopechny, said that the implementation of the Czech proposal to purchase shells for the Armed Forces of Ukraine would require more funds than planned. He could not name the exact amount needed to implement the Czech Republic's plan, but, in his opinion, it is about $3 billion.

Before that, at the end of March, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the country's contribution to the Czech Republic's initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine would be doubled. However, he did not specify the exact amount in question.
