On May 5, the FSB's Public Relations Center showed footage of the detention of 10 Russians, members of an organized criminal community who operated fraudulent call centers using SIM boxes.

It clarifies that the defendants provided illegal telephone services for fraud and sending false terrorist threats in Russia. The criminal group operated from September 2024 to March 2025, using SIM boxes for mass calls and embezzlement of money.

During the searches, mobile phones, 23 SIM boxes, more than 1,000 SIM cards and money were seized. Criminal cases have been initiated on this fact under articles on the creation of a criminal community, fraud and false reports on terrorism.

According to the agency, the group's leader, who is in the UAE, was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia. Currently, investigative actions and operational search activities are continuing.

On April 29, a member of an interregional criminal group was detained in the Chelyabinsk Region, who tried to extort more than 30 million rubles from a local resident. A criminal case has been opened against the defendant under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Attempted fraud committed by an organized group"). The suspect was detained, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for him.
