In Moscow, a woman was detained who tried to bring gunpowder, cartridges and rivets with metal balls into the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Previously, she has a mental illness. This was reported on May 5 by a source of Izvestia.

"The incident occurred on May 3. A woman came to the temple, and during an inspection at the entrance, they found hunting equipment. It was seized by sappers who arrived at the scene," the source explained.

The gunpowder and hunting cartridges belonged to the detainee's late grandfather.

The woman is suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of explosives or explosive devices").

Earlier, on April 25, it was reported that a 32-year-old resident was detained in Khabarovsk with a live grenade and a sniper rifle scope. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in relation to the suspect.
