Experts named the industries with the fastest growth in turnover in 2025

Among the leading industries in terms of median turnover growth in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 were seedling cultivation (+45.4%), production of abrasive and non-metallic products (+13.5%), and wired communications (+8.1%). This is stated in the results of a study by analysts at Tochka Bank, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 5.
Experts attributed the significant growth in the turnover of the seedling growing industry to a combination of market demand and government support.
"The demand for domestic planting material has increased significantly after restrictions on the import of seeds of a number of crops from unfriendly countries were extended (until the end of 2025). This stimulated the development of local seed production, including potatoes, cereals and sunflowers, and hence the demand for seedlings," they said.
At the same time, the interest of the population in gardening and farming has additionally increased, especially in small towns and on private plots.
In addition, analysts, having analyzed how the structure of small and medium-sized businesses in Russia is changing, noted an increase in the number of companies in the regions. By the end of March 2025, 4,624,765 individual entrepreneurs and 3,214,307 legal entities were listed in the registers of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities and the Unified State Register of Legal Entities - several tens of thousands more than a year earlier. There are 6,665,321 enterprises registered in the register of small and medium—sized enterprises (SMEs), of which almost 6.42 million are microbusinesses, 225.7 thousand are small businesses and 20.9 thousand are medium-sized.
Earlier, on April 28, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov noted that small and medium-sized businesses are actively involved in the implementation of resource- and knowledge-intensive projects, including the development and creation of unmanned aerial vehicles, the implementation of space programs, and the production of products as part of import substitution. At the same time, approximately two thirds of SMEs operate in the form of individual entrepreneurship.
