Donetsk commemorates dead journalists

In Donetsk, the memory of journalists who died during wars and armed conflicts was honored. The footage of the May 5 event is provided by Izvestia.
"The monument [to which flowers were laid] is dedicated to the journalists of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) who did not return to the editorial office. In the book "Soldiers of the Word" with Viktor Fedorovich Vovenko, who edited this book, we tried to reflect more fully in the essays in the third edition and recall as much as possible those people whose names are reflected on the monument "They did not return to the editorial office," said Viktor Petrenko, chairman of the Russian Union of Journalists in the DPR.
Petrenko noted that since the beginning of 2025 alone, five journalists have died in the conflict in Ukraine.
In addition, according to him, a chapel will be opened in Moscow on May 9, in which the names and surnames of journalists killed in armed conflicts, starting with Yugoslavia and Chechnya, will be engraved.
Earlier, on April 28, at the exhibition of materials of the special project "They Died for the Truth" in Ankara, a portrait of Semyon Yeremin, a military correspondent of Izvestia, who died in the special military operation zone (SVO), was presented. The project is dedicated to the journalists who died in the SVR zone, and is aimed at preserving the memory of all the courageous media workers who worked at the front. Footage from the exhibition hall is published by Izvestia on April 28.
