The owner of a husky who attacked a nine-year-old boy in Sochi in February may be sentenced to up to three years in prison, the prosecutor's office of the Krasnodar Territory reported on May 5. The criminal case will be considered by a justice of the peace.

It is noted that the owner of the dogs is charged under Part 1 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing serious harm to health by negligence").

"The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of a fine of up to 80 thousand rubles, or compulsory labor for up to 480 hours, or correctional labor for up to two years, or restriction of liberty for up to three years," the department's Telegram channel says.

In addition, the child's legal representative filed a civil lawsuit to compensate for the damage caused to his health, as well as to receive compensation for the moral damage caused.

An attack by two huskies on a nine-year-old child took place in Sochi on February 26. The dogs were unattended by the owner, they were driven away from the boy by passers-by. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 1 of Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing serious harm to health by negligence"). After that, on March 4, surgeon Alexey Dikarev told Izvestia that the boy needed to have a reconstruction of his mouth, lips, cheeks and nose. According to him, such operations are carried out in many medical institutions in Russia.

On March 27, a court in Belorechensk also placed the former stepmother of a nine-year-old child under house arrest. As the Izvestia correspondent reported from the courtroom, the woman is suspected of stealing 3 million rubles intended for his treatment. The boy's father told Izvestia about the theft of funds for treatment on March 24.
